It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Teresa Juarez Esparza, lovingly known as Tere, who departed this world on October 18, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois. Born on October 31, 1970, in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, Tere was a beacon of strength, resilience, and grace, embodying the spirit of a true warrior throughout her life.
Teresa's journey to the United States at the tender age of 21 was marked by courage as she bravely ventured forth with her daughters, Maria (Mayte) and Mayra. Upon arriving, she quickly established herself as a hard worker, dedicating many years at Winpack and Berry Plastics, where she always gave her best and inspired those around her.
She was a proud mother, and her kids Leslie, Mayra, Mayte, Nicole and Ernesto were the light of her life and her reason for living. Teresa's heart swelled with pride when Leslie purchased her first home at a young age at the age of 18 years old, a poignant moment that left her in tears of joy. Mayte shared cherished moments dancing alongside their mother, creating joyful memories that would last a lifetime. Mom would love getting back massages, and drum rolls from Nicole. Mom was proud of Ernesto's musical and rock band skills, always showing off his talent. Mom really appreciated and respected Mayra, for always standing by her side no matter what! Tere’s nurturing spirit and fierce love for her kids will forever be etched in their hearts.
Her unwavering strength shone brightly, especially during her battle with cancer. With a smile that could light up any room, Teresa faced each day with courage and unyielding faith. She endured the trials of her illness with dignity, embracing her time with her family, and teaching them the value of perseverance and hope.
Beyond her role as a mother, Teresa was a diva who took great pleasure in expressing herself through her love of fashion, always dressing elegantly in her high heels and makeup. Her zest for life was evident in her passions—gardening, dancing, and singing karaoke, and recording TikTok videos, were among the countless ways she brought joy to those around her.
Teresa possessed a strong character and fought for justice throughout her life. She was a woman of immense spirit, never backing down in the face of adversity. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Teresa leaves behind her beloved kids : Leslie Romero, Nicole Vasquez, Mayra Romero, Maria (Mayte) Lopez-Juarez, and Ernesto Vasquez, as well as her cherished family. She is predeceased by her father, Jose Luis Juarez, and her sister, Veronica Juarez, and Juana Esparza, her mother, both of whom she held dear in her heart.
A visitation to honor Tere's life will be held at Acevez Funeral Home Hammond in Hammond, Indiana, on October 28, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM, with a prayer service to follow on October 29, 2025, at 10 AM.
As we say farewell to a remarkable woman who filled our lives with love, laughter, and indomitable spirit, we remember Teresa not only for her struggles but for the joy she spread, the love she gave, and the memories she created. She will remain forever in our hearts.
