Richard "Dick" E. Struhs

Richard E. Struhs, affectionately known as Dick, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, in Crown Point, Indiana. He was born on April 17, 1947, in East Chicago, and throughout his long and meaningful life, he touched the hearts of all who knew him.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  

He is survived by his children, Nicole (Dave) Mochel, Amy (Bill) Sharpe, Kim (Tim) Tufts, Tony (Erin) Sharpe; 5 grandchildren, Hunter, Max, Macy, Sam and Louis; loving extended family and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bridget; his parents, Juanita and Eugene Struhs; and cherished fur babies, Katie and Daphne.

Richard earned a Bachelors degree from Purdue University Calumet and retired from Amoco Oil with many years of service.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending his grandkids' activities, hanging out with his neighbors, fishing, and caring for his numerous four- legged friends, who he couldn't resist spoiling with treats.  He loved Diet Coke and M&M's, and was a diehard Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a Memorial Gathering, which will be held on June 26, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Acevez Funeral Home, 4404 Cameron Ave, Hammond, Indiana. This gathering will provide an opportunity for all whose lives he touched to reflect, remember, and say farewell to a man whose kindness and gentle strength will always be remembered.
