Miguel A Mendez

Miguel Angel Mendez Morales departed our loving family on December 7th, 2020 surrounded by his adoring wife and the seven treasures of his life, his children. He was 88.

His birthplace of Tezoatlan de Segura y Luna, Oaxaca, will forever stay etched in his heart and will always be home. He was born on the 17th of March 1932 to Sr. Feliciano Mendez Martinez and Sra. Heladia Morales Montesinos. He lived out his younger years in company of his siblings Socorro, Noemi, Celia, Jose Maria, and Maria Elsa. He met, fell in love, and married Efigenia Cholula on May 13, 1954. He made a promise to her before God and his family to be a good man, husband, and father.

They went on to have seven wonderful children together Francisco Miguel, Gerardo R, Feliciano, Adamina, Rosario, Miguel Angel, Jr., and Heladia. They departed their home in Oaxaca, Mexico and set their sights on a better life for their children in East Chicago, which would be home for many years. As the years passed, they would go on to be blessed with 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was employed at Inland Steel for 24 years and belonged to local 1010.

He was a beloved and revered grandfather to 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was received in heaven by his son Francisco Miguel, parents Feliciano Mendez Martinez and Heladia Morales Montesinos, sisters Socorro Urbano, Noemi Morales, and Celia Flores.

He was blessed with a beautifully fulfilling life. His presence, laughter, and love will be missed immensely by his family and those who knew him. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are the legacy he leaves behind, the riches of his world. An era has ended may he rest in peace.
