Jorge Herrera

Jorge Herrera, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away

on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on October 26,

1947, in Laredo, TX.

Jorge is survived by his wife Esther of 56 years; children Jazel (Rafael)

Ochoa of Henderson, NV, Geraldo (Angie) Herrera from East Chicago, IN;

brother, Francisco Trevino from Laredo, TX, longtime friend Carlos

Rodriguez, Munster, IN: grandchildren Tea (Elijah), Jacqui from

Henderson, NV, Geraldo Jr, Rozlyn, Gabriel and Xavier from East Chicago,

IN; several nieces and nephews.

Jorge was preceded in death by his parents, Erasmo Herrera and

Consuelo de Trevino, sister Socorro Trevino.

Jorge was known for his passion for working on cars with his son and

grandsons. He enjoyed taking long drives with his family to visit Monkey

Island. Long time employee of Southern Electric and Calumet Armature.

A visitation will be held Friday, January 23rd, 2026 from 4-8pm at Acevez Funeral Home, 4404 Cameron Ave. Hammond, IN. 46327.

Per Jorge's wishes a private Cremation will follow.
