John S. Kasper, born on February 18, 1957, in East Chicago, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his hometown on December 17, 2025. A loving man, John was known for his unwavering dedication to his family and friends, as well as his passion for the great outdoors.
As a devoted husband and partner, John shared many cherished memories with his wife, soulmate, and fishing companion, Patti (Sapyta) Kasper. Their bond went beyond the shores of their favorite fishing spots; they created a life together filled with laughter, love, and adventure.
John was a proud father to his daughter, Tina Kasper, and her partner, Gabe Zapata. He cherished being a grandfather to Santiago and Gabriel Gonzalez, finding joy in watching them grow and thrive. His role in their lives was one that he embraced wholeheartedly, often recalling the smiles that brightened his days.
In addition to his immediate family, John held a special place in his heart for his extended family. He shared a bond with his special nieces, Lisa Hennin and Nicole Dick, as well as his special nephew, Steve Wagila. Together, they created memories that would last a lifetime and filled their lives with affection and support.
John was also fortunate to have a strong relationship with his special brother-in-law and fishing buddy, Tom Sapyta. Their shared love for fishing and the outdoors made for many treasured escapades, reinforcing the importance of friendship and family in John's life.
John's journey was marked by an indomitable spirit and love for those around him. He was preceded in death by his sister Debbie, brother Steve, and beloved nieces Jill and Chris, along with his nephew Nick. The void left by his passing will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
