Jesusita Abeyta lovingly know as “Ma, Jessie, and Auntie Chuchi”
Jesusita “Jessie” Abeyta 97, of East Chicago, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at her daughter Barbara’s home, where she lived for 11 years. Jessie was born in East Chicago, Indiana on February 17, 1925 to Simon and Esther Vasquez.
She graduated from Washington High School. Attended St. Joseph of Calumet College where she received a certificate in Clerical Studies.
She worked at Standard Forge during World War II, Bert Shanty Restaurant, Taco Delight, and for the School City of East Chicago for 20 years as a lunch lady and a bus aide.
Jessie was very Faithful and very devoted.
She honored Our Lady of The Rosary. She always gave us God's Blessings. Some of her children attended St. Patrick’s school and she made sure they all made their sacraments.
She loved to dance, play bingo, cards, bunco, working in her flower garden, camping, and enjoyed sports. She loved to joke around and jive. She loved to go to her kids and grandkids events.
She had 11 children and along the way became “Ma” to their friends. They had room for another so-called brother Carlos Robles. As time went on she adopted Sylvia, her grand-daughter. Whom she loved just as much and did all for her.
We Celebrated her 97th Birthday this past Saturday. She danced, was full of smiles, and was very Happy!!!
Ma had so much Love to give!!
Today we give our Condolences to her Children Lillian, Bobby, Barbara, Priscilla, Simon, and Sylvia. I know she will always be with you. Keep her Memory alive in your hearts and share them with your children.
