Helen A. Smith

Helen A. Smith (Nee Spytek) age 102 of East Chicago passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017, peacefully at her home. She is survived by her daughter Bernadette (Robert) Vellutini, her grandchildren include James (Teresa) Vellutini of Munster, IN. and Donna Benjamin of Miami, FL. Her sister Rae Shideler, her son-in-law Leonard Benjamin, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Smith, her daughter Gale Benjamin, her son John A. Smith her grandchild James Benjamin, her sisters Rose, Laura and Lottie and her brother John. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2018 at Acevez Funeral Home, 4918 Magoun Ave. East Chicago, from 5 to 7pm, with a Mass Saturday at 10am from St. Stanislaus Church, on the corners of 150th and Magoun Ave. East Chicago, with Msgr. John J. Siekierski officiating. A private burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery
