Arthur Martinez

Arthur Martinez, born on November 4, 1962, in East Chicago, Indiana, passed away on June 3, 2026, at Southlake Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, Indiana. He was the son of Antonio and Lydia Martinez.

Arthur spent part of his early years in Mexico with his parents, where he embraced his cultural heritage and became fluent in both English and Spanish. Upon returning to the United States, he faced family challenges that led him to relocate to Half Moon Bay, California. There, he pursued a career in carpentry in the San Francisco area until an injury resulted in disability. Subsequently, Arthur returned to East Chicago, where he met and married Leticia Martinez on May 17, 1996. Together, they had a son, Joseph Martinez, born one year later.

Arthur is remembered for his passion for sports, notably football, baseball, and basketball, and his loyalty to teams including the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers. He was a devoted family man and a caring friend who valued those close to him.

He is survived by his son, Joseph. Arthur is now peacefully reunited with his wife, parents, and brother. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
